"It is what it is,
...and there sure ain't much I can do about it."
I say that; a lot.
And so do a lot of people these days. It's an expression of frustration and resignation; mental resolve.
The reason I mention this is because a number of you misunderstood my mention of Travon Martin's hoodie being acquired by the Smithsonian Museum, thinking that I was endorsing their decision. Nothing is further from the truth. The 17 year old's death was a tragedy but by pretending he was some kind of a victim or role model or, even a hero, worthy of a special place in America's memory is simply wrong. That does nothing more than play into the hands of those who profit from keeping the races divided.
But the fact that the current powers that be at the Smithsonian, and in our modern culture in general don't really like the way this country was founded and want it changed is maddening to most of us over...oh, say 60 years old.
But it is what it is.
I believe those 5 words are greatly responsible for keeping me sane
The Smithsonian Museum |
That was just one small example of the insanities that go on day after day in the country that I have loved for 77 years. But, I'm just one person and at the moment there are not enough "one persons" to do very much to turn things around.
So to keep my head from exploding, I keep saying to myself, "It is what it is, it is what it is, it is what it is..."
What else can you do when the majority of your fellow citizens are so easily hoodwinked, or are simply not paying attention or just don't give a damm, as the country goes to Hell before our very eyes.
Feel free to disagree. I hope and pray that you are right!
But frankly, I'm afraid that if you think everything is going along fine, all that proves is you are still getting all your news and information from network television and newspapers.
Losing the press in this country was a huge, perhaps insurmountable blow to truth and freedom. But as Douglas Simpson recently reminded us in THE AMERICAN THINKER, that's not all we've lost:
Today,
our foes control every major institution in America -- starting with
public
education -- not to mention a large part of the churches and both political parties. Right under our noses our adversaries have stolen two generations of Americans by undermining children's education on their way to capturing the flag. They've done a great job of it, since most of America and the churches never hear the good news about the great foundational principles responsible for the great nation we once were.

I don't believe there's enough time left before we graduate from this great adventure on planet Earth for America to return to it's Constitutional principles under which we prospered most of our lives, but I do believe that before our departure we might see things begin to reverse course. I have no idea what will cause it, but I think it will happen.
And when it does, I'll be the first on my block to quote the great philosopher, Popeye, and holler out with joy,
"Well, Blow me down!"
