I saw this postcard on eBay today. It's from the 1930's...which I understand was the golden age of postcards. The price for mailing postcards stayed at one penny until 1952, when it went to 2 cents. It now costs 28 cents to mail one.
I wish eBay had shown the reverse side of the card. I'd love to read the message. But, since I don't plan to bid on it, I'll just have to imagine what it might say.
Like,
"Dear Babs,
Having a wonderful time, wish you were here.
Thought you'd like to know that they're going to chop down the tree and cement over our high school's beautiful front lawn for a main road to be called "Elizabeth Avenue." If they keep this up, next thing you know they'll cement over practically everything and build tall buildings....etc....until we won't even recognize our little town. -Sam"
AL GORE....Call your office.
